Juana and her husband work hard to provide for their two children; but while she works when she can, she also has her eyes set on getting her GED.
"I've noticed that compared to other places I've worked, people at the Food Bank will stop to say hello and get to know you. We're just a lot more invested in our people as humans, humans who need to interact and need a good environment to thrive. That's important to me," Jen Guajardo, the Central Texas Food Bank's Development Operations Coordinator, shares.
After suffering a heart attack only a couple of months ago, Julius’s daughters asked him to move to Central Texas so they could be closer to him during his recovery. Now that he is no longer able to work full time due to his health, he relies on support from the Food Bank to help make ends meet.
It’s been almost two months since Oscar has been able to work and earn enough money to provide for his wife and children. With the added financial burden of rising costs, he turns to the Food Bank for support. This weekend, we’re thinking of dads like Oscar who want nothing more than to be able to feed their families.

A recipient of one of our capacity-building grants, they’ve put the funds towards improving the food pantry space in their brand new building.
