Food Bank Supports Family of Six This Summer

It’s been almost two months since Oscar has been able to work and earn enough money to provide for his wife and children. With the added financial burden of rising costs, he turns to the Food Bank for support. This weekend, we’re thinking of dads like Oscar who want nothing more than to be able to feed their families.

Join us in celebrating one of our amazing partners this month, Vivent Health, formerly Aids Services of Austin, who were recently named a “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader” in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Healthcare Equality Index. A recipient of one of our capacity-building grants, they’ve put the funds towards improving the food pantry space in their brand new building. We’re proud to feature some of the great work they do to serve those impacted by HIV in Austin.

Killeen Seniors Receive Food through CSFP

After celebrating his 60th birthday earlier this year, a friend of Paul’s told him about the Food Bank’s CSFP distribution in his hometown of Killeen. Receiving support from one of our senior programs has helped Paul continue to support himself after suffering a serious accident in 2019.

Food Bank Supports Retired Police Officer

May is Older Americans Month and we are honored to serve many seniors in our community like Ken. For retired folks, living on a fixed income is hard in an economy with not-so-fixed costs constantly fluctuating, and often times with added medical bills on top of everything else. Last year, Ken found himself in a difficult place in his life when his wife became seriously ill. We’re so glad to be able to support folks like Ken with access to free, nutritious foods for their families.
