At the Central Texas Food Bank, we believe in creating opportunities that empower individuals to build sustainable futures. Our Workforce Training Programs provide hands-on experience, industry certifications, and professional development in two key areas: Culinary Arts and Warehouse Logistics. These free programs equip participants with the skills needed to secure stable employment while supporting our mission to nourish lives and strengthen communities.

Culinary Training Program

Our Culinary Training Program prepares individuals for careers in the food service industry through hands-on training, professional certifications, and job placement assistance. Over the course of 11 weeks, students gain experience in our commercial kitchen, learning from experienced chefs while preparing nutritious meals for Central Texans in need.

Program Highlights:

  • Hands-on training in a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen
  • Food safety certification (ServSafe)
  • Skills in meal preparation, nutrition, and menu planning
  • Professional development, including resume building and interview preparation
  • Opportunities for job placement with local food service employers

Warehouse Training Program

The Warehouse Training Program provides participants with essential logistics and warehouse management skills, offering hands-on experience with inventory management, forklift operation, and workplace safety. This six-week, full-time program prepares individuals for employment in the growing field of warehouse operations and supply chain management.

Program Highlights:

  • Training in warehouse operations, shipping & receiving, and inventory management
  • Forklift certification and ServSafe certificate
  • Introduction to warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Hands-on experience at our 6500 Metropolis Drive location
  • Career development support, including resume assistance and interview skills

Who Can Apply?

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED required (or willingness to complete one)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must pass a drug test before beginning the program
  • Open to individuals seeking a career in warehouse logistics
