Central Texas Food Bank has taken a deep dive into understanding the unique needs of McLennan County through a comprehensive Community Needs Assessment. By listening, learning, and analyzing key data, we’re designing solutions that meet our neighbors where they are. Our holistic approach to the food system enables us to address hunger today while laying the foundation for a more sustainable future.
With the approval of the Waco City Council, we are excited to announce the opening of a new Central Texas Food Bank hub in McLennan County. This significant milestone reflects our commitment to creating lasting solutions and closing the meal gap for families in Waco and beyond.
The Waco Hub: Coming 2025
To better serve our Waco-area neighbors, we’re building a new hub designed to increase our capacity to distribute fresh, nutritious food more quickly and efficiently across the region. McLennan County currently faces food insecurity rates higher than the national average, with 19% of the population affected—and nearly 25% of children impacted. Our new Waco Hub will help us change that by enabling us to provide fresh, perishable food at a higher volume to the entire community.
Located at 1402 Gholson Road, this 11.3-acre facility will include a storage warehouse, sorting facility, public food pantry, and even a garden—each element designed with community needs in mind. Together with our partners and neighbors, we’re paving the way for a brighter, hunger-free future for McLennan County.
