Beef Sliders

Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef (90% lean and 10% fat)
2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoons olive oil plus 1 teaspoon for cooking
2 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
12 whole wheat mini buns
Toppings
Lettuce, tomato, onion, low-fat cheese

PREPARATION

  1. Place ground beef in a large bowl and add the mustard, olive oil, thyme, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix gently with a fork to combine.
  2. Shape the meat into 20 (2-inch) patties of equal size and thickness. Make an indention in the middle of each patty with your thumb (this will keep the patty from plumping up).
  3. Heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 4 minutes on each side or until cooked thoroughly.
