Vital Farms Donates Eggs – More than Half a Million Meals – for Central Texas Families in Need

The Company’s Austin-based Team Assisted with Central Texas Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry To Provide Fresh Pasture-Raised Eggs to Families in Food Deserts for the Holiday Cooking Season

Austin, Texas – December 17, 2019 – Vital Farms has teamed up with Central Texas Food Bank to provide donations of pasture-raised eggs totaling more than half a million meals for families in need over the holiday season. According to the Food Bank, the contribution could not have come at a better time. Despite eggs being the foundation of several holiday dishes, egg donations are few and far between.

“The Central Texas Food Bank is very grateful to our friends at Vital Farms for this generous supply of fresh eggs, a recipe staple we would normally have to purchase,” said Derrick Chubbs, President and CEO of the Central Texas Food Bank. “These eggs will be an excellent source of protein for our neighbors in need and provide thousands of central Texas families with a key ingredient for preparing holiday meals.”

On December 17, a crew of Vital Farms employees from its Austin headquarters staffed Central Texas Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry to distribute pantry items and eggs. Through the Food Bank’s Mobile Pantries and partner agencies, the Vital Farms donations will reach Texas families in food insecure areas who rely on Central Texas Food Bank services each week.

“We deeply value our community and are honored to have the chance to contribute our time and make a meaningful donation this holiday season.” said Russell Diez-Canseco, President and CEO of Vital Farms.

In its Austin, Texas, and Springfield, Missouri, offices, Vital Farms staff are also hosting canned food & donations drives with proceeds going to the Central Texas Food Bank and Ozarks Food Harvest, respectively.
