Bitcoin powered concert to help Capital Area Food Bank raise donations for Central Texans experiencing hunger
At a time when almost one in five Central Texans live in a household at risk of hunger, the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas received a bit of support from the experts at the Texas Bitcoin Conference. The crypto-currency enthusiasts are joining the fight to end hunger in Central Texas.
The Texas Bitcoin Conference’s Bitcoincert, the world's first concert exclusively accepting Bitcoin, will benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. The donations will make a big impact for Central Texans experiencing hunger.
“On behalf of the 300,000 clients we serve every year, and all of us engaged in the fight against hunger, we appreciate the support of the Bitcoin community for their efforts to help end hunger in our community” said Hank Perret, CAFB president and CEO.
"We are excited to have Capital Area Food Bank adding their voice to the Texas Bitcoin Conference amplifying the message that Bitcoin is a force for good!” said Paul Snow with the Texas Bitcoin Association.
Bitcoin donations to the Capital Area Food Bank are fast, secure and make a big difference for nonprofits. Unlike other types of electronic donations, 100% of Bitcoin donations go straight to supporting the mission, reducing the fees and overhead the charity pay. Currently, 96 percent of donations made to the Food Bank directly support programs. Without processing fees, 100 percent of Bitcoin donations go to the Food Bank. This means that Bitcoin donations will provide more healthy meals for Central Texans in need. Bitcoin donations are accepted at austinfoodbank.org/bitcoin/
The Bitcoincert will be held March 6, 2014 at the Circuit of the Americas Stage. The Bitcoincert will take place after the Texas Bitcoin Conference at the Circuit of the Americas and feature artists such as: Carolyn Malachi, Tatiana Moroz, Jordon Page, Eric Tessmer Band, Nada Valli, and others.
