BancorpSouth Donates $25,000 to the Central Texas Food Bank

AUSTIN, Texas -- Jan. 7, 2019 – BancorpSouth Bank (NYSE: BXS) announced today a $25,000 donation to the Central Texas Food Bank to support the fight against hunger in local communities.

According to Feeding America, 40 million Americans struggle with hunger, including more than 12 million children. In Texas, every 1 in 7 people face hunger, and of them, 1 in 4 are children, the organization’s research shows. BancorpSouth’s donation to the Central Texas Food Bank is part of a larger initiative to end hunger across its footprint and underscores its commitment to making a difference in the communities where its teammates live and work.

“We are pleased to contribute to the efforts of the Central Texas Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief charity in the area,” said Jeff Brinkley, community bank president for BancorpSouth’s Monterey Oaks and Falconhead branches in Austin, Texas. “This partnership will help people live healthier lives and address the food insecurity in 21 counties across Central Texas.”

The Central Texas Food Bank, which was founded in 1981, serves nearly 46,000 people each week by providing food and grocery products through a network of about 300 partner agencies and nutrition programs.
