AUSTIN, TEXAS, August 11 – Hot sauce lovers will come together to beat the heat by eating the heat for the 26th Annual Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 21, at Fiesta Gardens, 2101 Jesse E. Segovia St.
One of the largest hot sauce festivals in the world, the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival will once again benefit the Central Texas Food Bank in its efforts to fight hunger in Central Texas, while giving attendees a chance to sample hundreds of hot sauces, experience cooking demonstrations, and enjoy live music.
Admission to the event is free to the public with a suggested donation of three healthy, non-perishable food items or a $5 cash donation to the Food Bank.
“This one-day, family-fun event comes at a crucial time for Central Texans facing hunger,” said Hank Perret, President and CEO of the Central Texas Food Bank. “It’s held just before most kids return to school to help us ensure that they have the proper nourishment they need to start the school year off right. Last year, the event raised more than 50,000 meals for Central Texans in need. This year, we’re looking forward to even more, thanks to the Chronicle and generous community support.”

In addition to more than 350 hot sauce entries, Joe King Carrasco, A. Sinclair, Bombasta, Mayeux and Broussard, La Vida Buena are scheduled to take the stage to spice up the festival.
Attendees can add to their support for the Central Texas Food Bank by purchasing Sizzlin’ Summer Raffle tickets from August 14 to August 21 for a chance to win prize packages valued at more than $500 each. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at www.centraltexasfoodbank.org/raffle and at the festival. Each $5 raffle ticket purchased allows the Food Bank to provide $40 worth of nutritious food to our Central Texas neighbors in need.
