We are grateful for the great work KEYE and Randalls has done to help us raise meals during our unusually busy summer. When families with children find their food budgets squeezed by increased childcare costs, camps and more meals at home because their children are home for the summer break, we see an increased demand on service. In addition, we were on the front lines of disaster relief response for the Memorial Day Weekend floods, providing emergency food and resources to the affected areas in Central Texas.
Through their Food For Families Food Drive in June, Central Texans donated pre-bagged food and funds from scan tags at their local Randalls, raising an incredible 66,166 meals for their neighbors in need. Last year, this drive raised 9,740 meals.
The team at KEYE spread the word through their website, gave their viewers a tour of our facility, and reported on the challenges our neighbors face in affording healthy food each day.
Since 2006, KEYE and Randalls have dedicated June as a time to raise awareness about the hunger crisis and funds for us, demonstrating their deep commitment to a creating hunger-free community.
