Today we kicked off the Souper Bowl of Caring with big news worthy of a Mariachi band introduction. This year, our goal is to raise 2 million meals now through Super Bowl Sunday. Because hunger continues to be a big problem in Central Texas affecting nearly one in four children, we need a big response. Media and grocery competitors are coming together to tackle hunger together. Rival schools are coming together to raise food and funds. We’re all working together to spread the word, keep the excitement up and collect donations to help end hunger. Because kids are leading this effort across the nation (and we all know that kids are awesome) we know we’ll meet our goal.
To get the fun started, we spent the morning with Austin students from Linder Elementary Fulmore Middle School and Travis High School where they showed us how they get pumped for Souper Bowl of Caring.
Here’s how you can get involved to help your local community.
Go to the Souper Bowl of Caring website and get registered. Form a team and get some ideas on fundraising at their website. Whether you choose to raise food, funds or both, it all contributes to our goal of raising 2 million meals.
Donate someone’s next meal at any H-E-B, Randalls or Central Market now through game day. They make it easy to give with pre-packaged bags of the healthy food our clients prefer and scan tags at the register for you to make a $1, $3 or $5 donation.

When we tackle hunger together, everyone wins.
