Hunger Action Month, the nationwide hunger awareness campaign, starts today. Every September, we join Feeding America and hunger relief organizations around the country to bring hunger issues to the forefront of our conversations.
Why Feed It Forward?
We know one good deed can have a ripple effect, making a wave of change never thought possible. That’s why we’re inviting you to “Feed It Forward” by offering an act of “food kindness” as a way to say thanks. You could donate a meal to the Food Bank when someone buys you a meal. You can share your story or a hunger fact that has inspired you to become an advocate. You can volunteer in honor of someone who is helping others in your community. The opportunities are endless for you to create that ripple effect.
We make it easy for you to Feed It Forward with our Hunger Action Month guide, which includes events, media kits, action alerts, stories, images and many more interactive ways for you to get involved. Be sure to follow the hashtag #FeedItForward on social media for inspiration and to inspire others.
Join us for a film screening and discussion of “Just Eat It”
Do you think you can exist on food that has been destined for the landfill but perfectly fine to eat? How about for six months? Filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant take the challenge and learn much more than they expect about how we eat and not eat food.
Featuring interviews with TED lecturer, author and activist Tristram Stuart and acclaimed author Jonathan Bloom, “Just Eat It” looks at our systemic obsession with expiry dates, perfect produce and portion sizes and reveals the core of this seemingly insignificant issue that is having devastating consequences around the globe. “Just Eat It” brings farmers, retailers, inspiring organizations and consumers to the table in a cinematic story that is equal parts education and delicious entertainment.
Join us after the film for a brief panel discussion with local experts about what we're doing to be part of the food waste and hunger solution.
