Oracle Grant Helps Food Bank Fight Hunger in Central Texas

Tech company Oracle may be headquartered in California, but they take to heart the issues of the communities where their employees live and work by partnering with local nonprofits to make their employees’ home a better place for all.

With one in seven individuals and one in five kids facing hunger in Central Texas, Oracle is taking action to fight hunger by partnering with the Central Texas Food Bank, the largest hunger relief agency in Central Texas.

Recently, the company awarded the Food Bank a $35,000 grant to help feed families in need! Their incredible generosity provided 140,000 nourishing meals for our most vulnerable neighbors — kids, families, veterans and older adults.

Each week nearly 46,000 individuals across 21 counties in Central Texas turn to the Food Bank to put food on their tables. The Oracle grant supports programs like our Mobile Food Pantry, Fresh Food For Families, Healthy Options Program for the Elderly, nutrition education, Summer Food Service Program and many more.

With help from supporters like Oracle, we’re able to provide nourishing food for all stages of life, from kids who receive summer meals when they no longer have access to school meals to older adults who can pick up a 30 pound box filled with healthy staples each month.

However, we wouldn’t be able to get nearly 47 million pounds of food out the door yearly without help from our amazing volunteers.

Oracle employees have been working hard and diligently to help us feed families in need by donating their time since 2007. Since then, employees have donated 2,836 volunteer hours to ensure only the best food possible leaves our doors.

For years, Oracle employees wearing their signature red shirts have filled our warehouse and have helped inspect and pack food for distribution. At our Mobile Food Pantry sites, employees have greeted families in need with a smile and helped distribute food at pop-up food distributions across Central Texas.

Since moving into our larger facility in the summer of 2016, Oracle volunteers have expanded their volunteerism to give us a hand in the kitchen to prepare thousands of meals for kids in need and to help plant and harvest organic fresh produce in our garden for distribution.

Oracle has been fighting hunger alongside the Food Bank for years and we are so grateful for their partnership. Thank you, Oracle, for all that you do to help feed struggling families.
