The special delivery contained 200 cases of burger patties from Hot Dang, a local business that specializes in grain burgers.
Each case contained 24 burger patties for a grand total of 48,000 burgers for Central Texans in need.
Martha Pincoffs, owner of Hot Dang, said this is the first donation she has been able to make since the start-up of her company in April 2011.
“I wanted to make a donation that had an impact for the hungry in the Central Texas area, and we’re there,” Pincoffs said. "This is a big milestone for me to start giving back.”
Capital Area Food Bank clients will soon get a taste of Hot Dang’s Italian grain burger called The Don, a local favorite, Pincoffs said.
“It’s made with all kitchen ingredients you probably have in your own kitchen,” Pincoffs said.
The patties will be distributed to the nearly 300 Food Bank Partner Agencies that put food into hands of clients needing food assistance.
