At the Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB), our mission is to nourish our neighbors and create a hunger-free future in Central Texas. We're proud to recognize one of the team members who drives this work forward, Cody Wofford, Router and fleet manager, as our Team Member of the Month. Cody's dedication to service and his passion for efficiency and innovation significantly impact our hunger-relief operations.
Cody's connection to service began early. Growing up on a farm in Smithville, TX, he developed a love for animals and community service through Future Farmers of America. As a child, he always knew he enjoyed "playing in the dirt." Cody and his family now manage a small farm, raising poultry and cattle, gardening, and passing on values for sustainable living and self-sufficiency to his children.
Before joining the food bank, Cody spent a decade in the beverage distribution industry, driving and managing logistics. While the role was physically demanding, it taught him valuable lessons in efficiency and teamwork. When a fellow driver introduced him to CTFB, Cody knew it was a place where he could channel his skills into a mission he believed in.
"It was a different environment. Everybody is trying to help each other," Cody says.
Cody joined the food bank in 2020 as a driver during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a time of increased need and rapid change, but Cody thrived in the fast-paced environment on the transportation team. He quickly became known for his positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
"Cody and his team are there early in the morning, getting things done and tucked away behind closed doors, but the value of his work is felt and understood by this food banker, and I appreciate all Cody does for all our programs, neighbors and [the food bank] as a whole," shares Rachel Rodriguez, our Senior Programs Manager.
After three years on the road, Cody transitioned to his current role as Router, overseeing dispatch, route planning, and vehicle maintenance for the food bank. "I enjoy creating these routes and making them efficient so that everybody gets out and has a good day," Cody says. In this role, he collaborates with teams across the organization to ensure efficient deliveries that help the food bank serve the community effectively. He also manages the Samsara system to track fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance, and other metrics—keeping operations cost-effective and dependable.
Cody's work is vital in helping the food bank expand its reach and impact. Cody shares, "We're here to serve our community and help people. You can tell the people here are driven by our mission."
As the food bank continues to transition to a direct delivery model with our partner agencies, Cody's expertise is crucial in coordinating logistics and ensuring that partners receive the food they need when they need it.
Cody’s commitment to service and continuous improvement reflects the values that drive us all at the Central Texas Food Bank. Cody plays a crucial role in nourishing our neighbors and empowering our community by ensuring our fleet runs smoothly and our deliveries reach those who need them most.
