Willie Gammage, III, a CDL-A Driver, truly embodies the superhero spirit of this mission. Through his commitment to delivering essential supplies and spreading joy, Willie makes a profound impact both on and off the road.
In his daily routine, Willie navigates a variety of routes, delivers exceptional customer service to our partner agencies, and actively contributes to CTFB’s direct-delivery model. When time allows, Willie enjoys touring partner agency sites, deepening his connection to the broader community effort dedicated to nourishing those in need.
“I love meeting people and hearing their stories,” Willie says. “Even on tough days, I aim to brighten someone’s day and bring positive energy wherever I go.”
Willie’s journey to the CTFB highlights his unwavering determination to find a sense of community. Before joining our team, he worked in warehouse operations at a food bank in Colorado and then as an over-the-road trucker. While his time on the road sharpened his skills, it ultimately led Willie, along with his wife and three dogs, to Austin, where they discovered a home and a mission worth dedicating themselves to at CTFB.
“I’m not just a number here,” Willie shares. “Every day, I go home knowing I’ve helped put food on someone’s table. That’s what drives me — it’s like being a superhero.”
Willie’s contributions extend far beyond logistics. Whether he’s ensuring that partner agencies receive their deliveries, lending a helping hand to colleagues, or greeting neighbors with warmth and humor, Willie tackles every task with professionalism and care.
“Willie is always ready to go above and beyond the call of duty. His positive and contagious attitude is felt amongst everyone he works with,” shares Andrew Ingrassia, CTFB Internal Distribution Manager.
Beyond his work, Willie is a creative force, crafting intricate LEGO masterpieces, collecting action figures, and indulging his passion for comics and superheroes. His creativity and dedication to community shine through in every interaction he has at work.
