The Caring Place: Four Decades of Nourishing Hope in Central Texas

Aug23

At the Central Texas Food Bank, our mission is clear: to nourish hungry people and lead the fight against hunger in Central Texas. We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy, nutritious food and we strive to achieve this through innovative programs, education initiatives and most importantly, by fostering powerful partnerships within our community.

Today, we want to shine a light on our incredible collaboration with The Caring Place, a vital resource center in Georgetown dedicated to empowering individuals and families. These partnerships don't just expand our reach, they allow us to connect with communities on a deeper level, ensuring that support reaches those who need it most.

Carin Place Volunteers and Clients

The impact of The Caring Place is truly remarkable. Since the start of 2024, their three food programs, - onsite pantry, Healthy Options Program for the Elderly (HOPE) and Fresh Food For Families (FFFF) - have served nearly 14,000 families by distributing an impressive more than 700,000 pounds of food through the support of the Central Texas Food Bank. These numbers represent more than just statistics; they represent lives touched, families supported, and hope restored.

David P. Earl, Director of The Caring Place, emphasizes the importance of their work: "I live and raise my family here. I want my community to be the best it can be, and good nutrition and food security are essential to accomplish this." This sentiment echoes our belief at the Central Texas Food Bank that food security is fundamental to building strong, thriving communities.

Our partnership with The Caring Place is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing food insecurity. As David notes, "The cost saving on food that we realize through our partnership with CTFB allows us to provide diverse services to our neighbors." By working together, we can stretch resources further and make a more significant impact.
