When you include us in your self-improvement plans, you’ll also help improve the health and well-being of your community. Here are some ways we can help you achieve your goals this year:
- Support an active lifestyle by volunteering in product recovery, at St. Johns or at a mobile food pantry. You can help organize 25-30 pound boxes of food or provide assistance to clients who need help to carry their food.
- Make new friends by volunteering as an ambassador at one of the signature events benefiting the food bank throughout the year. It takes hundreds of friendly volunteers to make events like Austin Reggae Festival a success.
- Try new recipes by visiting our blog to find recipes created by our nutrition team. Our CHOICES nutrition education classes are free to low-income Central Texans. Visit our website to learn more about the variety of nutrition programs we offer.
- Be a better friend to mother earth by donating instead of dumping food, growing fresh produce and donating it to the Food Bank, donating clean egg cartons and donating reusable shopping bags for us to share with clients.
- Give a little throughout the year by setting up a recurring donation. For as little as $20 a month, you can provide 600 meals for the year.
- Take the lead in your career by organizing a volunteer day with your co-workers at the food bank, holding a workplace food drive or inviting a food banker to speak about hunger at your next meeting.
- Read more of the good stuff by subscribing to our blog, checking out our quarterly newsletter Feedback on issuu and signing up for e-communications.
- Communicate with passion by contacting elected officials about hunger issues in your community and encouraging them to make ending hunger a priority.
- Travel more by volunteering at one of our 30 mobile food pantry distribution sites in Austin, Bartlett, Buchanan Dam, Cedar Creek, Cedar Park, Fredericksburg, Gause, Goldthwaite, Johnson City, Kosse, Kyle, Lexington, Lometa, Lott, Marlin, Mart, Paige, Rockdale San Saba, Star, Taylor, Waco and Warrenton.
- Get organized by cleaning out your food pantry and donating the healthy items to the Food Bank.
