Mama Fu’s Asian House is celebrating the launch of their Chili Spice Market Menu with the Chilis for Charity Challenge, a pepper eating contest with $25,000 up for grabs. On Saturday, the Food Bank is taking on Austin Pets Alive, Dell Children’s Hospital, Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin and the Austin Fire Foundation for a chance to win the prize money.
Our digital marketing specialist, Brianna, has bravely volunteered to eat her way through increasingly spicy chili peppers. All contestants will have to eat and swallow nine peppers from the jalapeño to the Carolina Reaper, the hottest pepper on the planet.
The hotter the pepper eaten, the more money the charity’s representative will earn for their organization
Come cheer on Brianna at Mama Fu’s restaurant in Southpark Meadows on January 20, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. while you enjoy Asian comfort food while to help feed families in need. The restaurant will be donating 50 percent of all Chili Spice Market Menu item sales on the day of the event to all participating charities.
The event will be emceed by Bama Brown, from KVET 98.1 FM and will include pet adoptions from Austin Pets Alive, Spice Market samples, and music from DJ Hella.
If you can’t make it to the event, you can still support the Food Bank when you dine at Mama Fu’s three weeks after the Chilis for Charity competition. All you have to do is mention the Central Texas Food Bank and Mama Fu’s will donate $1 per entrée to the Food Bank.
